I just want to point something out, peeps – entertainment is NOT the main reason animals are in zoos. As you probably know, snow leopards are endangered. And in case you haven’t noticed, most of the animals in the zoo are endangered. Zoos breed these animals in captivity so that if they go next-to-exctinct in the wild, there are still some left in a safe enviroment, in captivity. That way, they aren’t gone forever. Besides, do these snow leopards look unhappy? No…

@Mo00nlight Don’t worry, the hunts are rare because the air there is very thin and kind of dangerous for humans. Also, their fur gives excellent camouflage.

It makes me smile seeing young life…

Wow… thats horrible, but i guess its bound to happen, snow leopards are an elusive animal, rarely caught on flim… Of course this video was taken in a zoo. Have you seen the show Planet Earth ? They had an episode where the camera men stayed in the Himalayan Moutains for I believe close to a year trying to flim a snow leopard, well they got the amazing footage of a snow leopard and its two cubs! And also for the first time ever a hunt! These creatures are amazing.

@BobbieJane87 no, I cried too. They are so sweet. And I just read the news story that a snow leopard they were going to save in Afghanistan (with the aid of the NATO), died from shock on March 2 this year.

@iAllix I think what they are doing is good for the species. For most animals are being hunted to extinction or suffering for loss of habitat due to people. We OWE it to those animals to help them. We are a very destructive creature.

  25. kuraikatara says:

@Mo00nlight Actually I think you are talking about tigers, they are usually killed for use of different body parts for medicinal purposes. The Snow Leopards are usually poached for their fur and also killed by the farmers in the area who are protecting their herds. The Snow Leopard Trust is trying to dissuade this by offering help to farmers if they promise not to kill the leopards. They also sell many handmade items that are made by the families in the area so they can earn extra income.
